At Discovery Art Fair Frankfurt 2026, Vijion Art Gallery is pleased to present artworks by Andrea M. Varesco, Mirijam Heiler, Kristina Weiss, Egon Digon and Ivan Baj —five distinctive artistic positions that explore materiality, form, space, and perception through highly individual visual languages.
The paintings of Andrea M. Varesco unfold with remarkable energy, where colour transcends its purely painterly function to become a dynamic force in its own right. Layered compositions evolve into vibrant fields of movement, shaped by fluid transitions, rich textures, and rhythmic streams of colour. His expressive impasto technique lends the works an extraordinary physical presence, creating a compelling balance between deliberate composition and spontaneous gesture.
In the work of Kristina Weiss, delicate brushstrokes develop into organic, almost primordial structures that evoke natural processes of growth and transformation. Her paintings inhabit the threshold between the visible and the concealed, density and emptiness, presence and absence. Rather than offering fixed narratives, they open poetic spaces of resonance, inviting quiet contemplation and personal interpretation. Their subtle complexity reveals itself gradually, rewarding sustained observation.
Mirijam Heiler’s artistic practice is grounded in a process-oriented approach in which variation, repetition, and subtle shifts serve as fundamental compositional principles. Her work negotiates a delicate balance between constructive order and organic resonance. Reduction is understood not as limitation but as a means of intensifying perception and focusing attention on the essential. The resulting works possess a quiet yet compelling presence, encouraging a heightened awareness of form, rhythm, and spatial relationships.
Egon Digon transforms geometric structures through carefully considered distortions, softening their inherent rigidity and imbuing them with an unexpected, almost organic quality. His rigorous exploration of line, edge, volume, and proportion gives rise to a distinctive sculptural language in which precision and sensuality exist in dynamic equilibrium. Executed with exceptional craftsmanship and a profound sensitivity to material and surface, his sculptures embody both formal clarity and expressive vitality.
Inspired by his travels and encounters, Ivan Baj creates Voyages, collections of unique glass artworks. Each journey is an exploration of natural and cultural landscapes, from whose architecture, colours, scents and impressions Ivan draws the material and immaterial essence of his artistic practice. Exotic fantasies, industrial nightmares, erotic dreams, ancient visions and intergalactic journeys: each experience is translated into glass, giving rise to a dialogue between technical experimentation and artisanal tradition. Each collection preserves the memory of encounters and impressions, brought to life by the skilled hands of Murano’s master glassmakers. Every artwork is unique, signed and dated.
