Max Ackermann (1887 - 1975)

Max Ackermann, born in Berlin, moved, after years of study in Dresden and Munich at the Art Academy in 1911 to Stuttgart. He founded at his studio in Urbanstraße 21 a "training workshop for new art". In the following years, Ackermann gave lectures and a seminar based on "absolute painting". In 1936, the painter found a new home on the “Bodensee” lake, which inspired him for his work but perhaps also narrowed his view. The paintings of real landscape and his figurative artworks developed into an abstract form.
